The Challenge: Installing a Boiler Within an Existing Manufacturing Site

The project involved a new boiler installation as part of the manufacturer's operational requirements involving boiler replacement, fuel change and expansion.

The available installation area was limited, while the site's location beside a highway created additional challenges for boiler delivery, unloading and positioning.

Careful planning and coordination were therefore required to position the boiler within the existing facility while maintaining appropriate access for operation, maintenance and testing.

One of the project's key engineering challenges emerged when the chimney position changed several times during execution, requiring the flue-gas ducting route to be revised accordingly.

Mechmar's engineering and site teams worked closely with the customer and site team to review the revised layout, adjust the ducting design and coordinate the new routing before installation proceeded.

The team successfully accommodated the changes and completed the flue-gas ducting installation while maintaining safe access, proper alignment and overall project progress.

From Installation Challenge to First Steam

A significant milestone came with the first firing and successful steam generation.

After navigating the restricted installation area and multiple site and routing changes, successful steam generation marked an important milestone in the completion of the project.
